About us.

 

Fortuna Films is an audiovisual production company founded by Diana Medrano and Francisca Ponce, dedicated to promoting debut films and new voices in Chilean cinema with an auteur-driven approach. Its cinematic vision embraces narrative and aesthetic exploration, aiming to strengthen the international reach of its projects and connect with audiences and exhibition platforms beyond local border.

  • Founder and producer

    Born in 1994 in Santiago, Chile. In 2013, she began her film studies at Universidad Mayor’s film school, where she developed her first projects, including short films, documentaries, and commercial spots, graduating with honors in 2019. In 2017, she started her professional internship at the Chilean production company Quijote Films, where she collaborated in executive production assistance for both short and feature-length films. She also worked for Storyboard Media in the guest office during the 14th and 16th editions of the Santiago International Film Festival (SANFIC).

    In 2018, together with Diana Medrano, she founded the audiovisual production company Fortuna Films, where she currently works as executive producer. Between 2021 and early 2022, she served as the international area coordinator at Ccdoc/Chiledoc and is currently working as translator and personal assistant to Lone Scherfig, director of the feature film The Movie Teller.

    Between 2022 and 2023, she lived in Paris, France, where she focused on writing and developing audiovisual and literary projects. In 2024, she was awarded funding for her fiction short film Cracks Ran Through This Multicolored Glass, which was signed in February with the Spanish distribution company Films on the Road. She is currently in the development stage of her debut feature film It Used to Be Fun.

  • Founder and producer

    Born in Moscow to a Bolivian father and Russian mother, she currently resides in Chile. She studied film at Universidad Mayor and later completed a two-month residency at La Fémis in France. She was also selected for Buenos Aires Talents 2025.

    She is a partner at Fortuna Films alongside Francisca Ponce, where they have jointly produced and distributed several short films, aiming to promote new visions and debut works. Among them is East Water, which she directed and which was selected at SANFIC, Raindance, among other festivals. In 2022, together with Fortuna Films, she created Kenopsia, a series of 19 international short films about the pandemic.

    She is currently developing her debut feature film Even the Dogs Don’t Bark and the short film Romina and Death, exploring childhood and identity from a multicultural perspective.
